Down Under Activities and Rates

Nestled in the basement level of the University Center, Down Under offers a place for UT students, staff, faculty and the community to relax and enjoy time with friends and family. No alcohol or tobacco products are allowed in Down Under.

Down Under offers a variety of leisure activities at competitive rates. A photo ID is required to check out any equipment. If you are a UTK student, faculty, or staff, you may receive a discount. Click below for information and rates:

Hours of Operation

Down Under is part of the University of Tennessee, so hours follow the UT academic calendar. We close between school terms, for holidays and for administrative closings. Hours will also vary at other times, especially on home football game days.

Bowling

  • Twelve USBC certified, synthetic bowling lanes
  • Bowling shoes required to bowl
  • Photo ID required to rent bowling shoes

Glow Bowl
Glow Bowl times have loud music, moving lights, flashing lights and black lights. We encourage guests to wear white or neon clothing to take advantage of the black light effects! Friday and Saturday nights are typically a little louder and we have lots of UT students here then. Saturday days and Sundays are typically a little more tame for the younger ones and are ideal times for birthday parties. During standard operating hours, Glow bowl times are:

  • Friday, 5:00pm-midnight
  • Saturday, 10:00am-10:00pm (varies on home football game days)
  • Sunday, 4:00pm-6:00pm

Billiards

  • Eleven professional, Brunswick, nine-foot tables
  • Rate is $4.00 per hour per table, rounded to nearest 25 cents, thirty-minute minimum charge, regardless of number of players
  • A photo ID must be left at the counter to use a table
  • Rate is the same whether you bring your own equipment or use ours
  • Half-Price Wednesday nights from 3pm-6pm (UTID required)

Table Tennis

  • Three tables
  • Rate is $4.00 per hour per table, rounded to nearest 25 cents, thirty-minute minimum charge, up to four players
  • A photo ID must be left at the counter to use a table
  • Rate is the same whether you bring your own equipment or use ours
  • Replacement charge for broken "pips-out" paddle is $3
  • Replacement charge for broken "pips-in" paddle is $15

Xbox 360

  • Four gaming stations each with a 42" HD LCD television
  • System-linked for head-to-head play
  • Live access with your own gamertag
  • $3.00 per hour per console or $10.00 per hour to rent all four consoles
  • Must be 18 years of age to play
  • One UTID or driver's license required per player
  • Check for tournaments and leagues

Other

  • Coin-operated foosball is 50 cents per game
  • Free boardgames and cards to check out with ID
  • Refreshments include candy, chips, bottle drinks
  • Large lounge with 62" HDTV
